What is a Deacon

As we prepare to ordain two new deacons, we consider together the questions of 'what a deacon is suposed to do' and 'who a deacon is suposed to be.' We see in Acts chapter six that the office of deacon first arose in the church to settle a dispute over ethnic divisions and discrimination. We also see the kind of character which should be apparent in the lives of deacons.
